Chicago Mission Trip - Entry 6

By Emily Shubilla

It’s hard to believe that today is our last full day here. We have seen and learned so much about Chicago, race, and poverty throughout this week, but the highlight of today was fellowship. We connected with so many people and learned their stories and gained so much perspective on our own lives and selves. It was hard to say goodbye to Mr. Hill, Mr. Cooper, and the high school students we worked with at the community garden. It was sad to say goodbye to our new friends from Michigan and the staff of Sunshine Gospel Ministries. One thing, though, that helps is that I know we will carry these people, the relationships, and these memories with us forever. God has given us this experience to look back on and remember the times we felt God’s presence. The bond between our youth and leaders with each other has deepened greatly, which enables our faith to grow. I am so thankful to be surrounded with the community of faith followers from this trip and look forward to what’s next.
