Day 2- July 13,2026- Workday # 1

KARM & Family Promise

Today we started the morning with breakfast before heading to our worksite, Family Promise, an organization that provides housing and support for families as they work to get back on their feet. When we got there, we met two little boys, Zander and Gracin, who were so sweet and full of energy. Emma and I spent the day organizing a storage closet full of donations while Zach, Connell, Gigi, and Stephanie took apart old beds and built new ones. We were thankful to be working in the AC, and getting to spend time with Zander and Gracin definitely made the day even better. They were so interested in everything we were doing and especially loved playing catch with Steve. After lunch, we had our daily devotion where we reflected on God and why we’re here, then headed back for dinner, worship, a much needed Walmart run, and games upstairs with popsicles. It was a great day, and we’re excited to continue tomorrow.

Today was a day I was hoping everyone would enjoy. We talked about seeing Jesus in the thunder and I got to push  Owen around in a cart. We helped sort and pull clothes on and off the racks at a thrift store, KARM (Knoxville Area Rescue Mission), and helped carry out some furniture people bought to their cars.

It was a good day, and I enjoyed spending time with my friends and  helping others.

Food/Drinks of the day- Dutch Bros, pancakes & sausage, bagged lunches, and pasta and chicken and bread sticks.

Challenges met- Getting started at our sites, building bunks and organizing rooms, sorting clothes, entertaining kids, and crossing the street in the rain.
