This Week at JMPC

Harold Camping is known as the doomsday preacher. On numerous occasions he predicted the end of the world. Fortunately for us, both of his predictions were wrong. He had prophesied that in 1994 the world would end, he sold thousands of books and when he was wrong he stayed silent. Again, he predicted the math was wrong and that the world would end on May 21, 2011. Once again, he was wrong, and the world kept moving. Harold Camping has passed away, but many others have picked up his mantle. David Meade who defines himself as a Christian Numerologist says that planet Niruba (which doesn’t exist according to NASA) will crash into ours starting World War III, led by the anti-Christ. He originally said it would be October of 2017, but has now shifted it to this year in October.
David Meade will not be the last person to be wrong about the end of the world. There are people who will try to make scripture fit into something they see in the stars, sky, or in natural disasters. They will proclaim they are signs from God. This week we will be looking at Matthew 16, where the Pharisees are asking Jesus for a sign. Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for missing the signs of the times. Jesus lets them know that the only sign he will give them is the sign of Jonah.
Come this Sunday at 9:30am to hear about the sign of Jonah, false signs, and how we should discern signs from God in today’s world.
