Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
I once heard the saying “your relationship with other people is a direct reflection of your relationship with God.” The idea is simple, you cannot treat people horribly and have a great relationship with God. I think the reason for this is because the more you pray, learn, and think about God, the more you will want to love others.
Our passage tells us how we should live our lives. We are to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. However, don’t gloss over the last part, we are supposed to do these things with God. When we do these things with God, we will do these things for others. Have you thought about doing these things with God? Have you noticed the more time you spend with God, leads to being more compassionate to others? Act justly with God and you will act justly with your neighbor much easier. Love mercy with God and you will be more merciful to your friends. Walk humbly with God and you will be able to show humility to everyone, even your enemies. This is what the Lord requires of you.
