Micah 2:1-2

Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it. They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud people of their homes, they rob them of their inheritance.

Micah has a prophecy against evil, though he is making a delineation in our passage. This is a certain kind of evil, it is a planned evil. This isn’t a reactionary response to someone else. This is a thought out action to hurt others. It is thinking out ways to harm other people.
While most of us do not sit around scheming like we see in the movies, we can still relate to the sentiment in the passage. We might hear gossip and don’t stop it, even though we know it will hurt someone. We might make plans with friends but leave someone out, knowing it will hurt their feelings. We might talk poorly about someone to others, knowing it will shape others opinions simply because we are mad.
The plan doesn’t need to be diabolical for it to be hurtful. It just needs a little thought and a little anger. Let’s pray that our plans bring others prosperity, not pain. Amen.
