Lenten Devotion 10 3.7.2020

Amos 6:7
Therefore you will be among the first to go into exile; your feasting and lounging will end.

Have you ever thought that Billionaires should give more money away? If not, you should try it, it’s really easy to spend other people’s money. We can look at them and decide they have too much, and then tell them to give it where we think they should. While most of us are not billionaires, we all enjoy extra amenities in life that are not necessary. I don’t want to brag but I have DVR in 2 rooms in my house. Couldn’t I cut back and use the money to help the poor?
It may feel like the minor prophets are attacking anyone with wealth, this isn’t true. They are attacking those who enjoy extreme leisure while people are dying from not having food. It is enjoying haughty pleasures at the expense of the poor. It is also a challenge to us, even if we don’t believe we fit into the “rich” group. Are we ignoring the poor? What could we do to care for them?
