Advent Devotion 12.10.19

John 15:5
‘I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.’

If there is one thing, I love in this world it is potato chips. I love them all, the plain ones, BBQ, salt and vinegar. I mean I just really love chips (I’m sure you can guess which pastor is writing this one). The only real downside to chips is they are really bad for your health. If I try to diet but fill myself with chips, I will not lose weight and that would not be very healthy.
Our lives look a lot different when Jesus is truly our focus in life. When we fill our lives with Christ we love and care for others much more than when we don’t. The problem is that we fill our lives with things that aren’t good for us. We know they are bad for us, but we do them anyway, mostly because they are easy. Jesus calls us to abide in him, not just for our own good, but for the good of all the people in our lives.
