Various Missions:
South Hills Interfaith Ministries (SHIM)
- Food Drive: At Thanksgiving & Easter, JMPC donates food to the SHIM Food Bank, which services families of the South Hills.
- Angel Emporium: During the Christmas season, members of the congregation donate gifts for the SHIM Angel Emporium. Less fortunate families in the South Hills benefit from the generosity of our congregation.
Family Promise (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network)
- Several weeks throughout the year, John McMillan Presbyterian Church opens its doors to help homeless families. Members of the congregation set up sleeping areas, prepare meals, stay at the church overnight with our guests, and transport our guests to the Washington Family Center daily, to help these families feel the love of God during a difficult time in their life.
Christmas Affair Craft Show
The Christmas Affair is held the first Saturday in November. This event has raised significant funds for various missions that are distributed both locally and world-wide.
Click here for information about our 2011 show.
Two-Cents-a-Meal Program
- During spring and fall, each church member is encouraged to donate two cents for every meal they eat. Funds are given to help feed hungry people locally and globally.
Produce to People
- Throughout the year, our Senior Highs and members of the congregation join with many other churches in the Pittsburgh area to help distribute food provided by the community Food Bank.
Souper Bowl of Caring
- On Super Bowl Sunday, we show love for our neighbors through the Souper Bowl of Caring. Church members donate $1 and/or canned goods, to be given to a local food bank.
Bread Box Mission
- Money collected in the Narthex coin box supports various ministries. We feature a different ministry every two months.
Heifer International - Living Gift Market
- This organization provides livestock to poor families around the globe. Every year, the Kids Klub & Trailblazer Youth Groups host a Family Dinner and collect donations for the purchase of livestock which is donated to families in need. JMPC also sponsors an alternative gift-giving livestock as Christmas gifts.
