Word of the Week

With the hope that God’s word would dwell even deeper in us, this year at JMPC we have a new verse to learn each week in worship. For each of the 52 Sundays, we’ll have a new verse to learn. Sometimes the verse of the week fits in with the flow and theme of worship; sometimes it isn't as clear a fit.

We read the verse in worship, and my hope is that you’ll take it with you in your mind and your heart during the week. Maybe you can write it on your calendar, or set up your computer screen saver with the verse. Maybe you can put it on your bathroom mirror or your refrigerator. Maybe families could say it together before meals.

Below are the verses that we have learned so far in 2010:

March 14

Psalm 103.8

“The Lord is merciful and gracious,

slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.”

March 7

Joshua 1.8-9

"This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful. I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

February 28

Philippians 3:12

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”

February 21

Psalm 51.10-12

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your holy spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit.”

February 14

Philippians 4.13

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
